Joseph

The rejected-then-exalted son — Genesis's great Christ-type; preserver of his family and of Egypt; the bridge into Exodus.

Sold by his brothers for silver, descended into the pit and prison, falsely accused yet righteous, Joseph is raised to Pharaoh's right hand and becomes the world's giver of bread. He forgives his brothers: 'ye thought evil… but God meant it unto good' (50:20).
