He brought them out, after that he had showed wonders, etc. - Thus the very person whom they had rejected, and, in effect, delivered up into the hands of Pharaoh that he might be slain, was the person alone by whom they were redeemed from their Egyptian bondage.

God sent the Moses whom Israel rejected to be their ruler and redeemer. Stephen closes with Moses's promise of a prophet like him, which Peter had cited at 3:22 and which points to Christ. This council now refuses to hear that prophet.

Barnes lists the wonders: the ten plagues, the dividing of the Red Sea, and the manna, meat and water from the rock. Clarke draws out Stephen's argument that the man Israel rejected was the one through whom God redeemed them. Chrysostom sees Christ in that pattern.
