Chapter summary
Manna in the wilderness of Sin. The whole congregation murmurs against Moses and Aaron: ‘would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt’. The LORD answers with bread from heaven — a small round thing, like coriander seed, white, tasting of wafers and honey. An omer per person per day; a double portion on the sixth; none on the seventh. Some hoard and breed worms. A pot of manna is kept before the Testimony for the generations. ‘Man did eat angels' food.’ John 6 will read this chapter as the Father's pattern for the bread he has now given — the Son come down out of heaven.
