Solomon’s prayer is, perhaps, generally for the fulfillment of all the promises made to David in connection with the building of the temple. But there seems to be special allusion in this verse to the promise recorded in Psa 132:14.

on 1 Kings 8:25-26
Solomon asks the LORD to keep the promise “You will never fail to have a man to sit before Me on the throne of Israel”. It was given at 2 Samuel 7:16 and echoed at Psalm 132:12. The promise carries a condition, “if only your descendants guard their way”.
