Now the LORD has fulfilled the word that He spoke. I have succeeded my father David, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. I have built the house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.

your son, your own offspring, will build the house

on 1 Kings 8:19-21

Solomon repeats the promise of 2 Samuel 7:12-13 almost word for word, “your son, your own offspring, will build the house for My Name”. The ark “contains the covenant of the LORD”, and John Gill identifies it as the two tablets of verse 9.

I have succeeded my father David

Nathan's promise had two parts, a son on David's throne and a house for the Name, and Solomon claims both here. John Gill counts each as kept to the letter. Adonijah had contested that throne in chapter 1.
