We that were of Paul’s company - Οἱ περι τον Παυλον· This clause is wanting in ABCE, and many others; the Syriac, Coptic, Vulgate, Armenian, etc. Came unto Caesarea - This was Caesarea of Palestine, already sufficiently described, See on Act 8:40 (note). Philip the evangelist - One of the seven deacons, who seems to have settled here after he had baptized the eunuch. See on Act 8:40 (note).

It was the place where the Roman governor of Judea generally resided and kept his court. The evangelist, who was one of the seven deacons - An evangelist is a preacher of the Gospel to those who had never heard it, as Philip had done to the Samaritans, to the Ethiopian eunuch, and to all the towns from Azotus to Cesarea, chap. viii, 5, 26, 40.
