What will we eat in the seventh year
on Leviticus 25:20-22
The text puts the farmer's objection in his own words, "What will we eat in the seventh year", and answers it. A sixth-year blessing yields a crop for three years, so obedience in the seventh rests on a harvest in hand.

The three years of verse 21 are counted out here. The sixth year's crop feeds the fallow seventh and then the eighth while the new seed grows, until the ninth year's harvest is gathered. Adam Clarke called the provision a miracle that left no room for deception.
