on Leviticus 25:39-41
An Israelite who sells himself is kept as a hired worker until the Year of Jubilee. He then leaves with his children for the property of his fathers, so the release restores his ground with his freedom.

The poor Israelite keeps the standing of a worker paid for his labour, with a fixed end to his service. Verse 23 used resident of all Israel before God. Albert Barnes calls the law a check applied periodically to the tyranny of the rich.
