The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep
From here to verse 26 the terms of the renewed covenant repeat what Exodus 23:14 to 23:19 had already given, so the second tables carry the same law as the first. The feast is fixed to Abib because that is the month they came out, which Exodus 13:4 states and Exodus 12:2 had made the head of the year. The calendar is anchored to an event rather than to a season.

Which was instituted at the time of their coming out of Egypt, and on that account, and then observed, Exo 12:15 and afterwards repeated, and the month expressed in which they were to keep it, and the reason of it, as it here follows; see Gill on Exo 13:15.
This feast was instituted, ch. xii. 13 , and urged again, ch. xxiii. The feast of weeks, that is, that of pentecost, seven weeks after the passover; and to this is annexed the law of the first-fruits.
