on Numbers 33:36-40
The second and last date in the chapter is a death, "the first day of the fifth month, in the fortieth year". Aaron at 123 is the only man whose dying this list records, and Numbers 20:22-29 tells how his garments passed to Eleazar.
This site's exposition
Aaron the priest climbed Mount Hor and died there
The verse gives the only full date in the list after the departure, the first day of the fifth month in the fortieth year. Numbers 20:28 records the death on top of the mountain after Aaron's garments passed to Eleazar. Deuteronomy 32:50 points Moses to it before his own death.
