Commentary
5 notes on this verseLet us draw near - Let us come with the blood of our sacrifice to the throne of God: the expression is sacrificial. With a true heart - Deeply convinced of our need of help, and truly in earnest to obtain it. In full assurance of faith - Being fully persuaded that God will accept us for the sake of his Son, and that the sacrificial death of Christ gives us full authority to expect every blessing we need.

Let us draw near with a true heart
on Hebrews 10:22-25
Three let-us exhortations gather the doctrine into duty, the letter's own pattern: let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and bodies washed with pure water, language drawn from the priests' own consecration at Exodus 29 and Leviticus 8. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering follows at verse 23, grounded not in the readers' own strength but in for he is faithful that promised. Let us consider one another closes the triad at verses 24 and 25, provoking unto love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some already was, and so much the more as ye see the day approaching, the early church's own sense that the end stood near.

Let us draw near - To God. With a true heart - In godly sincerity. Having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience - So as to condemn us no longer And our bodies washed with pure water - All our conversation spotless and holy, which is far more acceptable to God than all the legal sprinklings and washings.
on Hebrews 10:22-23
(1.) With a true heart, without any allowed guile or hypocrisy. God is the searcher of hearts, and he requires truth in the inward parts. Sincerity is our gospel perfection, though not our justifying righteousness.

Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible (1871)
On the "pure water," the symbol of consecration and sanctification, compare Joh 19:34; The perfects "having . . . hearts sprinkled . . . body (the Greek is singular) washed," imply a continuing state produced by a once-for-all accomplished act, namely, our justification by faith through Christ's blood, and consecration to God, sealed sacramentally by the baptism of our body.
