The Abrahamic Covenant
God calls one man out of Ur and binds Himself to him by oath — land, seed, and blessing to all nations. It is a grant, not a bargain: in Genesis 15 God alone passes between the pieces, guaranteeing the covenant by Himself. And Abraham believes God — “and he reckoned it to him for righteousness.”

God alone passes through — 15:17
A smoking furnace and a burning lamp pass between the divided animals while Abraham sleeps. God alone walks the covenant path — He swears by Himself, and He alone will keep it. Circumcision (ch. 17) becomes its sign in the flesh.
