The Binding of Isaac
The strongest single type in Genesis of the Father offering the Son. Every detail — the beloved son, the wood on his back, the three days, the ram, the mountain of Moriah — casts its shadow forward to Calvary. On this mountain it was said, “In the mount of Jehovah it shall be provided.”

The Aqedah (“the binding”) is central to Jewish liturgy — read on Rosh Hashanah — and its “merit” (zekhut) is pleaded for Isaac's descendants.
