Know therefore this day and take to heart
on Deuteronomy 4:39-40
Verse 39 asks for more than assent: "Know therefore this day and take to heart." It names the LORD as God in heaven above and on earth below. Jewish liturgy has closed the Aleinu prayer with this clause for centuries.
