The LORD answers with His question, “Is anything too difficult for Me?” The indictment names the places “of Baal in the Valley of Hinnom,” built to “make their sons and daughters pass through the fire to Molech.” This is the valley the closing verses of chapter 31 declare consecrated.

Gill names Ahaz and Manasseh among the kings who set idols in the temple, and points back to the same charge at Jeremiah 7:30. Matthew Henry notes the idols stood in God's own house as well as on the high places. The Lord's house became the place of his dishonor.
