Houses and fields - shall be possessed again - That is, this is an evidence that the captivity shall not last long: houses, etc., shall here be possessed again, either by their present owners or immediate descendants. The young might return; at least, all under ten years of age: there was no natural impossibility that they should not live till they should be fourscore.

on Jeremiah 32:11-15

Jeremiah hands both copies of the deed to Baruch before witnesses. The order to “put them in a clay jar to preserve them for a long time” looks past the coming destruction. The sign's meaning comes in one sentence: “Houses, fields, and vineyards will again be bought in this land.”

This site's exposition

Houses, fields, and vineyards will again be bought

Clarke reads it as a sign the captivity would be short enough for the present owners or their children to return. A child under ten could live to come back. Jeremiah 29:10 had already set the exile at seventy years.

(Verse 13 and following) And I commanded Baruch before them, saying: Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Take these books, this sealed book, and this open book, and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may last for many days. For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Houses and fields and vineyards shall still be possessed in this land.
