The same with the Amorite, Gen 10:16; they inhabited both on this and the other side Jordan: and the Canaanites; which were a particular tribe or nation that bore the name of their great ancestor Canaan, see Gen 13:7, and the Girgashites; the same with the Gergesenes in Mat 8:28; of these see Gen 10:16, and the Jebusites; who inhabited Jerusalem and about it, which was first called Jebus, from the founder of this nation; see Gill on Gen 10:16.

on Genesis 15:18-21
The grant is in the past tense, the land already given to his descendants. The boundaries run from the river of Egypt as far as the Euphrates, and ten peoples on that ground are listed by name, where Deuteronomy 7:1 later counts seven. The Rephaites stand on the list, the giant clans of 14:5.

But God ensures both to him; and that which made these two, the promised seed and the promised land, comforts indeed to this great believer was that they were both typical of those two invaluable blessings, Christ and heaven; and so, we have reason to think, Abram eyed them. The land granted is here described in its utmost extent because it was to be a type of the heavenly inheritance, where there is room enough: in our father's house are many mansions.
