6 notes on this verseThere shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren - Hence there must be a very great increase both of men and cattle. The number of thy days I will fulfill - Ye shall all live to a good old age, and none die before his time. This is the blessing of the righteous, for wicked men live not out half their days; Psa 55:23.

The blessing promised for that service is ordinary, bread and water, health, children and a full count of days. I will take sickness away from the midst of thee stands with 15:26, where the name given at the bitter water was I am the LORD that healeth thee, the first occurrence of healeth in Scripture. Nothing casting their young and none barren answers a trouble that ran the length of Genesis, where Sarah, Rebekah and Rachel were each barren in turn.

And we notice that the saying, "The barren has borne seven, and she that has many children is weakened," is in accord with this; as also is that which is said in the blessings: "There shall not be one among you that is childless or barren." This being so, it follows that just as there is one love, known as carnal and also known as Cupid by the poets, according to which the lover sows in the flesh. So also is there another, a spiritual love, by which the inner man who loves sows in the spirit.
