Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy

on Deuteronomy 5:12-14

Exodus 20:8 has "Remember the Sabbath day," while this account has "Observe" and adds "as the LORD your God has commanded you." Exodus lacks that clause, and verse 14 closes with another it lacks, "so that your manservant and maidservant may rest as you do."

Six days you shall labor

The commandment sets the working week before it sets the rest, so the six days of labour belong to the same command as the seventh. All your work is to be finished within them, which leaves the Sabbath clear.
