Commentary
3 notes on this verseThe purchase of the field, and of the cave that is there, was from the children of Heth. Which is repeated for the certainty of it, and that it might be taken notice of, that both the field and cave were bought by Abraham of Ephron the Hittite, and that the children of Heth were witnesses of the bargain, and of the payment of the money, and by whom the estate was made sure to Abraham; all which might be urged, if any controversy should arise about it; see Gen 23:16.

there I buried Leah

Jacob names everyone already lying in the cave. Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, and then in his own voice, there I buried Leah. Leah is the wife he was given, and she lies beside him.
The record, by era
The Puritans and the Awakening1 voice
He was afraid lest his sons, after seventeen years' sojourning in Egypt, had forgotten Canaan, and even the burying-place of their ancestors there, or lest the Canaanites should dispute his title to it; and therefore he specifies it thus largely, and the purchase of it, even when he lies a-dying, not only to prevent mistakes, but to show how mindful he was of that country.
