The breastpiece carries the names again on twelve stones. Exodus 28:29 says Aaron bears them over his heart when he enters the Holy Place.

The fourth row closes the twelve, and every stone sits in a gold filigree setting like the onyx stones of verse 6. Gold filigree work returns in verses 16 and 18. Gold holds every stone the priest wears.
