For the breastpiece they made braided chains like cords of pure gold
on Exodus 39:15-21
Rings, braided chains and a cord of blue yarn bind the breastpiece to the ephod. The paragraph ends on its one purpose clause among seven verses of fastenings, that it would not swing out from the ephod.

The two chains run from the upper rings of the breastpiece toward the shoulders. Exodus 28:24 gave the same order. The breastpiece with its twelve names hangs from the shoulder pieces that carry the two onyx stones.
