on Exodus 39:15-21

Rings, braided chains and a cord of blue yarn bind the breastpiece to the ephod. The paragraph ends on its one purpose clause among seven verses of fastenings, that it would not swing out from the ephod.

The cord that ties the breastpiece is blue yarn, and verse 31 uses a blue cord again to tie the gold plate to the turban. Exodus 28:28 gave this cord. The refrain closes the breastpiece as it closed the ephod at verse 5.
