on Leviticus 10:14-15

The chapter grades holiness by who may eat and where. The grain offering, most holy, is eaten beside the altar. The breast and thigh go to the priest's sons and daughters in a ceremonially clean place, and Leviticus 22:12 limits which daughters keep the right.

The thigh and breast are waved before the LORD with the fat, then return to the priests as their lasting portion. Leviticus 7:34 had already given these portions to Aaron and his sons from the peace offerings of Israel.

Moses spake unto Aaron, &c.--This was a timely and considerate rehearsal of the laws that regulated the conduct of the priests. Amid the distractions of their family bereavement, Aaron and his surviving sons might have forgotten or overlooked some of their duties.
