Coats - See Exo 28:39. Life had been extinguished as if by a flash of lightning, but neither the bodies nor the dresses were destroyed.

Moses calls two cousins of Aaron, because Aaron and his surviving sons may not leave the entrance of the tent. They carry the bodies still in their tunics, so the fire took the men and left their clothing.

The cousins obey at once and carry the dead men out in the tunics of their consecration, the garments Exodus 28:40 prescribed for Aaron's sons. Albert Barnes likens the death to a flash of lightning. He also takes the removal to be for burial.
