The Lord said unto me, Fear him not: for I will deliver him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand--Og's gigantic appearance and the formidable array of forces he will bring to the field, need not discourage you; for, belonging to a doomed race, he is destined to share the fate of Sihon [Nu 21:25].

The account runs close to Numbers 21:33-35, down to the words Fear him not and the promise that Og will go the way Sihon went. What Numbers reports as narrative Moses here says in the second person to the children of the men who died in the wilderness, so the battle is being handed over as evidence rather than filed as record. Edrei sat at the southern edge of Bashan, and Og came out to meet Israel in the open field instead of holding his walls.
