Who perhaps was not in the king's palace, but at her brother Absalom's house, 2Sa 13:20, saying, go now to thy brother Amnon's house; who also had a separate house and equipage, being the king's son, and his eldest son: and dress him meat; such as he may desire, and his stomach will bear.

on 2 Samuel 13:7-11

David sends his own daughter into Amnon's house, never asking why a grown man needs his sister alone to bake for him. The king who wept over Bathsheba's dying child now sends Tamar in unknowing. The sword promised at 12:10 finds its first opening inside his own house.
