David sent word to Tamar at the palace

on 2 Samuel 13:7-11

David sends his own daughter into Amnon's house, never asking why a grown man needs his sister alone to bake for him. The king who wept over Bathsheba's dying child now sends Tamar in unknowing. The sword promised at 12:10 finds its first opening inside his own house.

Tamar does the work herself, from kneading the dough to baking, where a king's daughter could have sent a servant. The words in his sight repeat the terms of Jonadab's plan in verse 5. Each step she takes in good faith carries out his design.
