David calls for Bathsheba a second time and swears an oath opened on the LORD's own name as its guarantee, as the LORD liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress. The formula recalls a lifetime of deliverances, from Saul's spear to Absalom's revolt, and stakes them all on this one decision. A king too weak to warm himself is not too weak to swear a binding oath before witnesses.
