Rebekah spake unto Jacob--She prized the blessing as invaluable; she knew that God intended it for the younger son [Ge 25:23]; and in her anxiety to secure its being conferred on the right object--on one who cared for religion--she acted in the sincerity of faith; but in crooked policy--with unenlightened zeal; on the false principle that the end would sanctify the means.

on Genesis 27:8-10

Rebekah tells Jacob to listen to her voice and do exactly as she says. She says it again at verse 13 and a third time at verse 43, when she sends him out of the land. God had told Isaac at 26:5 that Abraham obeyed His voice. Two goats from the flock start the disguise.

Rebekah plans to pass off meat from the home flock as game from the field. John Gill notes the dish was to be served as venison, as if Esau had brought it. The flock is near, so Isaac wonders at the speed.
