on Ezekiel 36:1-3
After Edom's judgment in chapter 35, the prophet turns to address the mountains of Israel, the land personified as chapter 6 addressed it. The address answers the enemy's boast, “The ancient heights have become our possession”. The land had been “taken up in slander by the lips of their talkers”.

Aha is a cry of gloating, used by Ammon at 25:3 over the sanctuary and by Tyre at 26:2 over Jerusalem. The ancient heights are the hill country promised to the patriarchs. The enemy is Edom, carried over from chapter 35.
