This site's exposition

the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt

on Exodus 10:14-15

Every green thing goes, the herbs of the field and the fruit of the trees the hail had left, so the stroke takes the food of the coming year and not only the crop standing in the field. The text gives it the superlative it gave the hail at 9:18 and 9:24 and will give the death of the firstborn at 11:6, that there were none like these before and none shall be after. Joel 1:4 and Revelation 9:3 both reach for locusts when they describe a day of judgment.

Nothing green was left on any tree

The locusts cover the land until it turns black and eat every plant and every fruit the hail had spared. After the hail and the locusts, the fields and orchards of Egypt stand bare. John Gill, on verse 5, explains the covering of the land as hiding the ground from anyone who looked at it.

the Lord brought an east wind--The rod of Moses was again raised, and the locusts came. They are natives of the desert and are only brought by an east wind into Egypt, where they sometimes come in sun-obscuring clouds, destroying in a few days every green blade in the track they traverse.
