Do not look on them with pity
on Deuteronomy 7:16-17
The command of verse 2 returns with a clause naming the danger, "Do not worship their gods, for that will be a snare to you". Verse 17 puts the objection in the hearer's heart, "how can we drive them out", the spies' report at Numbers 13:31.
