Chapter summary
The gospel declared — Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, was buried, rose again the third day according to the scriptures. Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some that there is no resurrection? If Christ be not risen, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. But now is Christ risen from the dead, the firstfruits of them that slept. The last Adam a quickening spirit. Death is swallowed up in victory. Calvin reads this as the gospel's cornerstone chapter.
