Moses therefore wrote this song the same day
on Deuteronomy 31:22-23
Moses writes the song on the day he is told to and teaches it, so the witness is in place long before the failure it was written for. Verse 23 delivers the charge announced at verse 14, and the speaker is left unnamed, so Keil and Delitzsch read the Lord as the speaker because verse 14 said that I may give him a charge, while others carry Moses over as the subject from verse 22. The words are the ones Moses used at verse 7, with one addition, I will be with thee, which Joshua 1:5 repeats to him again.
