on Deuteronomy 11:4-5

The Red Sea takes one clause, and its weight falls on the last words, "how He destroyed them completely, even to this day", which keeps a forty-year-old act in force as Moses speaks. Exodus 14:28 is the account it points back to. Verse 5 covers the whole wilderness period in one line and names nothing in it, because the men listening supply the detail themselves.
