Jerusalem falls to David, and the text keeps the city's older name, Jebus. Joab son of Zeruiah went up first and won the chief command David had offered. This passage alone credits him with the feat, for 2 Samuel 5:8 records the siege without naming who led it.

You will never get in
2 Samuel 5:6 to 8 gives the Jebusite taunt about the blind and the lame, and the saying that grew from it. Chronicles keeps only the boast and the capture. Zion names the Jebusite fortress, and the name later spread to the temple mount and the whole city.
