on 1 Chronicles 11:11-14
Jashobeam heads the roll with three hundred men killed, against eight hundred at 2 Samuel 23:8, a variant the older commentators treat as textual. Eleazar's stand at Pas-dammim answers to 2 Samuel 23:9 to 10. Verse 14 gives the verdict: the LORD brought about a great victory.

In 2 Samuel 23:12 one man takes his stand in the field, and here the verbs are plural with David beside him. Both accounts give the victory to the LORD.
