The names continue in the same terse form Samuel gives them. Each man is marked only by father, hometown or clan, as in Hurai from the brooks of Gaash and Ahiam son of Sachar the Hararite. Chronicles keeps the list as a roll of honor.

Ahiam son of Sachar the
2 Samuel 23:33 to 34 names Ahiam's father Sharar, and Eliphal appears there as Eliphelet son of Ahasbai the Maacathite. Maacah was a small Aramean kingdom north of Bashan (2 Samuel 10:6). The two lists often differ in fathers' names.
