From Ar of Moab, or, however, from the place where they met, to the royal city where Balak had his palace, and seems to be the place following: and they came to Kirjathhuzoth; which Jarchi interprets a city full of streets, a populous place, having a multitude of men, women, and children in the streets of it; and the same writer suggests as if Balak's view in this was to move the pity of Balaam, that such a number of people might not be rooted out and destroyed.

Balak sacrificed cattle and sheep and sent portions to Balaam and the princes, so the arrangement opens with a shared meal. In the morning he takes him up to Bamoth-baal, a shrine of the country's god. He shows him only the camp's outskirts, a partial view tried again at 23:13.

Kirjath-buzoth - i. e., “city of streets,” within Balak’s dominions, south of the Arnon, and identified either with the ruins of Shihan, 4 miles west by south of the site assigned to Ar or Ir, or with Kirjathaim (Kureivat).
