3 notes on this verse"There is none good but one, God the Father." This word they declare is peculiar to the Father of Christ, who, however, is different from the God who is creator of all things, to which creator he gave no appellation of goodness. Let us see now if, in the Old Testament, the God of the prophets and the Creator and Legislator of the word is not called good. What are the expressions that occur in the psalms?

The Lord is good unto them that wait for him
on Lamentations 3:25-27
The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him, turns the confession of the previous unit into instruction, goodness as something waited for rather than only received in a moment. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord names the waiting itself as good, not merely the outcome it leads to, patience given its own worth. It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth closes the unit with a proverb the bench reads alongside Jeremiah's own life, discipline accepted early rather than resented, the same yoke language the book has used of Babylon's rule now turned toward formation.

In these three verses, each beginning in the Hebrew with the word good, we have first the fundamental idea that Yahweh Himself is good, and if good to all, then especially is He so to those who being in adversity can yet wait in confidence upon His mercy. Lam 3:26 And quietly wait - literally, “and be in silence,” i. e. abstain from all complaining.
