The scene follows Joshua 2, with spies, a man who shows the way in and a household spared. It parts from Rahab at the end, since she lives among Israel at Joshua 6:25. This man goes "to the land of the Hittites", where he builds a second Luz.

The spies promised kindness to the man alone, and the release extends to all his family. Everyone else in the city falls to the sword. Verse 22 credits the capture to the LORD being with them, and this verse credits the way in to one informant.
