Toward the sea - The lot of this tribe was washed by the midland sea on the west, and by the sea of Tiberias on the east, answering Jacob's prophecy, Zebulun shall be an haven of ships; trading ships on the great sea, and fishing ships on the sea of Galilee.

Zebulun is drawn before its elder brother Issachar, the same order Jacob uses at Genesis 49:13-14. Gath-hepher is the home of Jonah son of Amittai at 2 Kings 14:25. The Bethlehem of verse 15 lies in Galilee, a different town from the Bethlehem of Judah at Micah 5:2.

This is Zebulun's southern line, running west from Sarid to the brook near Jokneam, which Barnes takes as the Kishon. Barnes keeps Zebulun back from the Mediterranean, since Carmel went to Asher. Wesley gives it both seas, after Genesis 49:13.

Although they do not seem at first to have touched on the western shore--a part of Manasseh running north into Asher (Jos 17:10) --they afterwards did, according to the prediction of Moses (De 33:19). The extent from north to south cannot be very exactly traced; the sites of many of the places through which the boundary line is drawn being unknown.
