6 notes on this verseBehold, Milcah, she hath also borne children unto thy brother - This short history seems introduced solely for the purpose of preparing the reader for the transactions related Genesis 24, and to show that the providence of God was preparing, in one of the branches of the family of Abraham, a suitable spouse for his son Isaac.

News from home reaches Abraham straight after the mountain, and the book turns to a family register. The sons of Nahor are listed by name, and some of the names carry on through Scripture. Clarke ties Uz to the land where Job lived and Buz to Elihu the Buzite. Gill says the rest are listed for Bethuel's sake.
