on Deuteronomy 9:13-14
The offer, "I will make you into a nation mightier and greater than they are", is Genesis 12:2 held out to one man. Moses declines it here and again at Numbers 14:12.

The sentence threatened on Israel is the one pronounced on the Canaanite kings at 7:24, to wipe out their names from under heaven. The people are put on the footing of the nations they were sent to displace.
