on 2 Chronicles 6:4-6
Solomon blesses the LORD, and Chronicles carries a clause 1 Kings 8:16 lacks: “But now I have chosen Jerusalem for My Name to be there”. Kings moves from choosing no city to choosing David, while Chronicles names the city first and the king second, two acts of one choice.

From the exodus to David, the worship of Israel had no chosen city. Chapter 1 shows the result: the Tent of Meeting stood at Gibeon, while David had brought the ark from Kiriath-jearim to a tent in Jerusalem. Clarke traces that move to 2 Samuel 6.
