Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD

on 2 Chronicles 6:12-13

Verse 13 supplies a detail 1 Kings 8:22 lacks, “a bronze platform five cubits long, five cubits wide, and three cubits high”. There Solomon knelt. Jamieson, Fausset and Brown call it a pulpit with no seat, since the king stood or knelt through the whole prayer.
