Now it was in the heart of my father David
on 2 Chronicles 6:7-9
David's wish to build and the answer that his son would build instead repeat 1 Kings 8:17-19 closely. Chronicles has already told the exchange at 1 Chronicles 17:1-4 and 22:7-10. So Solomon here quotes his father's commission: “your son, your own offspring, will build the house for My Name”.
