Two of his predecessors, whose families were utterly destroyed, 1Ki 15:29, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin: not only by his worship of the calves, but of the idols of the Zidonians, particularly Baal, and also of the Amorites, 1Ki 21:26.

on 1 Kings 21:21-22

The sentence makes Ahab's house “like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat and like that of Baasha son of Ahijah”. Both houses were cut off to the last male. Gill reads the Hebrew behind “every male” as the plain idiom for every man, used of Jeroboam's house at 14:10.

Both houses were wiped out by a usurper, Jeroboam's by Baasha at 15:29 and Baasha's by Zimri at 16:11. John Gill widens the sin beyond the golden calves to the Baal worship Ahab brought in from Sidon. Jehu ends Ahab's house the same way in 2 Kings 10.
