Twelve leaders are named to assist Moses, one for each tribe. “Nahshon son of Amminadab” stands for Judah, and his name runs on into Ruth 4:20 and the line of Christ at Matthew 1:4.

Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai
Simeon's prince is Shelumiel, and Matthew Henry reads the name as saying that God is his peace. Most of the twelve names carry El, the word for God, and Henry reads this as Israel keeping God's name in mind through Egypt. Shelumiel offers on the fifth day at Numbers 7:36.
